The Harris County Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) is designed to:​

  1. Measure pollution levels that affect public and environmental health across Harris County.

  2. Identify emission sources that adversely impact local communities.

  3. Inform the public and elected officials on priorities related to clean air and environmental sustainability.

  4. Highlight patterns and trends that may support environmental regulatory activities.

Lead, a known hazard since the Romans, banned in gas in 1980, is still a hazard to school children across the US, even right here. Lead is highly toxic and causes a variety of adverse health effects; at low exposure levels, it can cause learning disabilities, lower IQ levels, increased blood pressure and nerve damage; at high levels of exposure, it can lead to brain damage and death.
